Finally! a cookbook worthy of a 5 star review. Great job Mr Phillips! I have recently been very harsh about some cookbook purchases because they had bought photos from photo sites - well, shiver me timbers! Not this time. Real photos of the real deal meal cooked. Hundreds of recipes, an excellent selection of tried and true Phillips family favorites by the look of things.This is home cooking which is what I do at home - nothing overly difficult to cook. A very useful addition to my collection.

A few new recipes. Most of the recipes I already had. Would be a good book for a beginner cooking deer.

I was disappointed with the book. I got this book for venison recipes while it was free, I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Don't get me wrong there are some good recipes in the book. There are 7 chapters in this book. There is a small amount of information in the beginning about preparing the venison prior to cooking & freezing. There are only 2 chapters on recipes for venison. The other 5 are sides, salads, appetizers & desserts. The end of the book has much information on the authors. I know the title says Deer & Fixings but this book is more fixings than deer.
Can't wait to try a few. Well put together book with nice suggestions... love to see more pictures but otherwise this was a great read
A lot of good venison recipes. There is a lot of variety with the recipes. You will not get bored. There are also a lot of other recipes to go with the deer.
There is little of everything for the country cook in this cookbook. Covers tips for field dressing as well as everything from making your own deer sausage to simple sides and appetizers. I thought there were some unique ways to prepare venison, as well as some tried and true sides and desserts. The angel biscuits are excellent. Chapters cover Appetizers, Salads and Soups, Breads, Vegetables, Desserts, Venison, and a chapter devoted to ground venison. There are foods for a crowd as well as family sized meals, and also some kid friendly recipes. .
Lots of good recipes in here. I was getting annoyed in the beginning as 90% of the recipes have nothing to do with venison, or have any in them. They are pretty good recipes for some good simple food (the best kind). About midway you hit all the venison recipes. I can't wait to try some of them. With all the frozen venison I have (and hope to get more of this season) the additional recipes are a welcome addition.
